INDICATIONS
Combined botulism and black quarter (Quarter Evil) vaccine for the active immunisation of cattle, sheep and goats against botulism and black quarter (Quarter Evil).

COMPOSITION
Duovax is a colourless liquid with an off-white precipitate which resuspends on shaking. It contains formalinised, inactivated alum-precipitated toxoids of Clostridium chauvoei and Clostridium botulinum types C 1 + 2 and D.

STORAGE

• Store in a refrigerator between 2 ˚C and 8 ˚C.
• DO NOT FREEZE.
• Protect from light.
• Do not use after expiry date.

WARNINGS

• Withdrawal period: Do not slaughter animals for human consumption within 21 days of vaccination.
• In animals immunised for the first time, immunity develops 2 weeks after the second injection.
• Immunity can, however, not be guaranteed in all animals.
• Dispose of any unused vaccine as well as all empty vaccine containers and disposable vaccination equipment according to local waste disposal regulations.
• KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN, UNINFORMED PERSONS AND ANIMALS.
• Although this vaccine has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, failure thereof may ensue as a result of a wide range of reasons. If this is suspected, seek veterinary advice and notify the registration holder.

PRECAUTIONS

• Occasionally some individual farm animals, on certain farms, may show shock reactions shortly after injection of the vaccine.
• A small swelling may occur at the site of inoculation.
• Goats should be vaccinated in the loose skin under the tail. Do not vaccinate goats in the neck.
• Sterilise syringes and needles by boiling in water for at least 15 minutes.
• Do not use disinfectants or methylated spirits for sterilising either needles or syringes.
• Use a separate needle for each animal. Shake the bottle well each time before filling the syringe.
• Avoid exposure to high temperatures and direct sunlight during inoculation.

DOSAGE

• Cattle, sheep and goats: 2 mℓ subcutaneously (goats should be vaccinated in the loose skin underneath the tail).
• Calves should be immunised before they are weaned i.e. at 4 to 5 months and a second injection must be administered 4 to 6 weeks later.
• Lambs and kids can be immunised from 3 months of age and a second injection must be administered 4 to 6 weeks later.
• After these 2 initial injections every animal must receive a single booster injection annually.

INDIKASIES
Gekombineerde lamsiekte en sponssiekte entstof vir die aktiewe immunisering van beeste, skape en bokke teen lamsiekte en sponssiekte.

SAMESTELLING
Duovax is ‘n kleurlose vloeistof met ‘n naaswit afsaksel wat hersuspendeer wanneer dit geskud word. Dit bevat geformaliniseerde, geïnaktiveerde aluin-gepresipiteerde toksoïedes van Clostridium chauvoei en Clostridium botulinum tipes C 1 + 2 en D.

BERGING

• Berg in ‘n yskas tussen 2 ˚C en 8 ˚C.
• MOENIE VRIES NIE.
• Beskerm teen lig.
• Moenie ná vervaldatum gebruik nie.

WAARSKUWINGS

• Onttrekkingsperiode: Moenie diere binne 21 dae na inenting vir menslike verbruik slag nie.
• Diere wat vir die eerste keer geënt is, ontwikkel immuniteit 2 weke na die tweede inspuiting. lmmuniteit kan nogtans nie in alle diere gewaarborg word nie.
• Doen weg met enige ongebruikte entstof asook alle leë entstofhouers en wegdoenbare entstoftoerusting volgens plaaslike afvalbeheerregulasies
• HOU BUITE BEREIK VAN KINDERS, ONINGELIGTE PERSONE EN DIERE.
• Alhoewel hierdie entstof breedvoerig onder ‘n wye verskeidenheid toestande, getoets is, mag dit faal as gevolg van verskeie redes. lndien dit vermoed word, raadpleeg ‘n veearts en verwittig die registrasiehouer.

VOORSORGMAATREëLS

• Sommige plaasdiere, op sekere plase mag, kort na inenting, skok reaksies toon.
• ‘n Tydelike swelsel mag by die plek van inenting ontstaan.
• Bokke moet in die los vel onder die stert gespuit word. Moenie bokke in die nek inent nie.
• Steriliseer spuite en naalde deur hulle in water te kook vir ten minste 15 minute.
• Moenie ontsmettingsmiddels of brandspiritus gebruik om spuite of naalde te steriliseer  nie.
• Gebruik ‘n aparte naald vir elke dier. Skud die bottel deeglik elke keer voor spuite gevul word.
• Vermy blootstelling aan hoë temperature en direkte sonlig gedurende inenting.

DOSIS

• Beeste, skape en bokke: 2 mℓ onderhuids (Bokke moet in die los vel onder die stert gespuit word).
• Kalwers behoort geënt te word voor hulle gespeen word d.w.s. op 4 tot 5 maande en ‘n tweede enting moet 4 tot 6 weke later toegedien word.
• Lammers en boklammers kan van ‘n ouderdom van 3 maande geënt word en ‘n tweede enting moet 4 tot 6 weke later toegedien word.
• Na hierdie 2 aanvanklike inspuitings moet elke dier ‘n enkele jaarlikse skraagdosis ontvang.
